In 1948 a young watchmaker named Patrick Keane started out repairing watches and clocks in a premises at 25 Patricks Street Cork, and spent his time there laying a foundation for a jewellers with a reputation for good craftsmanship and reasonable prices. Two years later Patrick, along with his wife Eileen, rented a small shop at 94 Oliver Plunkett Street, and it wasn't long before the opportunity arose to purchase that shop along with the joining number 93 and 95.

Patrick and Eileen Keane laid a very solid foundation on which their children and grandchildren continue to build an extremely successful business. Gerard Keane, has been joined by his son Gerard Jnr, and Pat Keane, is joined by his son Patrick. It is this team, which will ensure that Keanes will be a prominent business in the jewellery trade for at least another 50 years.
